The Problem
The 65,000 poultry farmers in the US face the daily challenge of maintaining optimal environmental conditions within their houses to ensure flock health and productivity. This critical task traditionally relies on multiple manual walk-throughs each day, a labor-intensive process that can consume up to 30% of a farmer's daily working hours. This reactive approach not only drains time but also risks missing subtle environmental shifts that can impact flock comfort and growth.
The Solutions
We deployed an AI-powered decision support system to automate and optimize environmental monitoring. The solution begins with rugged, IP68-rated sensors installed in each house to continuously track temperature, relative humidity, and ammonia levels. This data is transmitted via an RTU controller to the AWS cloud. There, an agentic AI solution analyzes the live in-house data against external weather conditions to proactively identify opportunities for adjustment. The system automatically sends email notifications to farmers if key thresholds are exceeded and provides intelligent recommendations, such as when to adjust ventilation, run fans, or alter lighting conditions.
